Few things feel more defeating than going through multiple rounds of interviews, getting your hopes up… and then hearing “we’ve decided to move forward with another candidate.”
It’s frustrating. It’s disheartening. But it can also be a turning point, if you ask the right questions.
If you’ve invested significant time in the process, you deserve to walk away with more than just a “no.” Reach out and request feedback. It shows professionalism, openness to growth, and helps you refine your approach moving forward.
Here are a few questions to ask:
🔹 What stood out about my experience or strengths?
🔹 Were there concerns about my fit or areas I could strengthen?
🔹 Is there anything you’d recommend I focus on in future interviews?
Not every employer will respond, but when they do, that insight can be incredibly helpful. A small shift in framing, tone, or storytelling could make all the difference next time.
